Atlas Shrugged Part 2 finishes filming; The Atlas Society launches movie blog

Atlas Shrugged Part 2 finished filming early on Wednesday morning, May 15, at the Bank of America Building in Los Angeles, California. The final scenes on schedule included the wedding of James and Cherryl Taggart, where Francisco D’Anconia delivers his famous “money speech” (played by Patrick Fabian, Larisa Oleynik, and Esai Morales, respectively). Other principal characters in the wedding scenes are Samantha Mathis as Dagny Taggart, Jason Beghe as Hank Rearden, and Kim Rhodes as Lillian Rearden.

The Atlas Society’s Executive Director David Kelley and Research Assistant Laurie Rice spent Monday and Tuesday nights on the Atlas set to watch filming of key scenes and dialogue. This is in keeping with TAS’s ongoing involvement in Atlas Shrugged Part 2, as we provide the philosophical context for the movie and leverage its publicity to gain attention for Objectivism and Ayn Rand’s ideas.

As Atlas Shrugged Part 2 moves forward, The Atlas Society will use this blog to provide relevant links, behind-the-scenes updates, and insightful commentary. The Atlas Summit, TAS’s summer event, will feature “An Inside Look into Atlas Shrugged Part 2” with producers John Aglialoro and Harmon Kaslow, as well as co-screenwriter Duncan Scott, on June 30. We have also launched the Atlas Shrugged Movie Capital Campaign to raise $1 million for promotion, events, and educational outreach. Join us by contributing to our campaign, bookmarking our site, and sharing our updates as we help to bring the message of Atlas Shrugged to theaters and to the culture.
